Description of the place Rio Negro - Argentina by Robledo Yanina

RIO NEGRO is the perfect setting for a holiday in Argentina. It is situated among the provinces of La Pampa, Chubut, Buenos Aires and Neuquén. It takes only ten hours and thirteen minutes (916, 1 KM) to get there from Buenos Aires by car. It is a better THE BEST place to stay far away from the city life.

It’s the wide variety of breathtaking scenery which makes the region so attractive. There are plateaus and isolated hills. There are low valleys and deep blue-water lakes. Also, there are glacial valleys in the mountains. Rio Negro River is the main water source of the place. The weather is warm at low elevations and it is very cold in the highest Andean peaks.

Rio Negro is famous for the Nahuel Huapi Lake. There is a breathtaking tour called Seven Lakes Tour. It starts in Villa La Angostura and it finishes in San Martín de Los Andes. The main lakes are:
  • Lácar
  • Machónico
  • Falkner
  • Villarino
  • Escondido
  • Correntoso
  • Espejo

A great place for families and friends to visit is Viedma. There are historic buildings in Manzana Historica. There are excursions in Bahia Creek and Caleta de los Loros where you can do GO scuba diving and go fishing.

This region offers day trips to suit every taste, but for nature-lovers, a visit to San Carlos de Bariloche is a must. If you're feeling adventurous, Cerro Catedral is a fascinating ski center. It has 34 ski tracks and 21 restaurants. Another place to visit in Bariloche is the wooded national park Los Arrayanes. It's the INhabitat of foxes, zorrinos, pudues y huillines. Other species like cipreses, palos santos, maitenes, laureles, canelos, coihues, radales and ñires are growing in that park.
